Starting at 8.45am for 4 year olds

Starting at 2.00pm for 5 year olds

JUDGING: SECTION I Dressage Test 35 marks
Followed by
SECTION II Jumping 40 marks
SECTION III Conformation & type 15 marks
SECTION IV Suitability & Potential 1-5 marks
(First 10 horses only will be required to complete section IV))

QUALIFIERS: 1-15 Starters: 1 qualifier
16-30 Starters: 2 qualifiers
Over 31 Starters: 3 qualifiers

CONDITIONS

HORSES must exceed 148cm without shoes.

AGE: Open to horses foaled in 2003 and 2004.


SADDLERY: Tack as per BE rules for Novice Dressage. For copy check website www.britisheventing.com/pdf/rules.pdf (Annex 5 pages 81-84) Fetlock boots only behind - no weighted boots. All other boots and martingales are optional. No boots to be worn for sections III. Jumping whip only allowed (max length 75cm).

DRESS: As for BE Novice Dressage test / Hunting Dress.
British Eventing / BHS approved hat and harness to be worn.

CLOSING DATE: 4th July 2008. In the event of over subscription, classes may be closed early.

DECLARATIONS: 10th July 2008. Please ring 01404 881317 between 6pm and 9.30pm.

BALLOTING: In the event of over subscription entries received for horses that have already qualified for the final will be balloted first.

STARTING TIMES: Will be given out at declaration.

JUDGING

SECTION I Dressage test (60m x 20m arena)
Marks will not be awarded for individual movements but the test will be marked for general impression and overall performance.

To be followed immediately by

SECTION II Jumping. NO time will be allowed between these sections for any adjustment to tack or rider’s dress. Maximum height of fences 0.90m (4 years) and 1.05m (5 years).
Note: fence height at Final 1.00m (4 years) and 1.10m (5 years).

SECTION III Conformation & Type. Note: Following section III, the ten horses with the highest marks will proceed to Section IV. In the event of equality of marks at this stage the horse with the higher jumping mark will be given precedence. Should this still produce an equality of marks all horses on that same jumping mark will come forward.

SECTION IV Suitability & Potential- Only the top ten horses are required for this section where they will be judged for star quality and the potential to make the ULTIMATE THREE DAY EVENT HORSE. These horses will be required to gallop.

Note: in the event of equality of marks at the end of the four sections, the jumping mark will be given precedence. Should this still produce an equality of marks, the highest mark attained in the final section will be the deciding factor.
